January Post-Christmas Cosme-Haul Update from Our Editor

Here's hoping your winter holidays were great and that you're off to a fantastic 2014.

I want to begin the new year, and our second month of Cosme-Haul, by letting you know how much your readership is appreciated. Cosme-Haul is quirky, we break a lot of the rules of blogging, and not everyone gets our take on beauty  and cosmetics. Thank you so much for joining us on this experimental journey!

Thanks also to our Twitter followers @CosmeHaul. Several of you followed @CosmeHaul before this blog was even live, when our Twitter account was just a placeholder with no description or background image. I didn't know these followers, and they didn't know me. How cool are they? Thank you for your trust! (And yes, that's me, your editor, tweeting.)

You're reading this instead of the new content we have for you because I'm powering through a cold that's going around L.A.. It comes with brain fog: one friend who has this cold arrived at her office to discover the reports she'd printed the day before were all blank! I envisioned that happening here. Thank you for your patience.

If you're into vintage, I think you'll like what's coming. Also, my Christmas gift cards are your gain: over vacation I bought a lot of new cosmetics to review for you. I'll also be telling you about a book I tore through in a mere two and a half days: it's a really fun read.

This week, we picked up several new affiliate partners (which is hard for a new blog to do), so you'll be seeing new affiliate links around the blog.
Just like before, some links are there for information and are not affiliates, so you'll find disclosure information at the beginning of each article. As a reader, you should never have to wonder which articles contain commission-earning links and which articles don't, and in my opinion, a blanket disclosure statement on a separate page isn't enough.

If you do decide to make a purchase from one of our links, I'm deeply appreciative, because many hours go into researching and writing and creating the the posts you see on Cosme-Haul. But links or not,
providing reliable information for you is always my first mission.

On that note, I need to get back to that article I was formatting...

Happy 2014!
